Making large payments to the Church is #1. Beyond that, as I understand it's built on a mediocre sci-fi/fantasy pulp writer's take on Freudian psychoanalysis.

By every definition, a cult. It started out acting like they were opponents of Government intervention and the privacy invasion of its citizens, acting as if they were upholders of the constitution simply because they were having trouble gaining religious status. Once they gained religious status they pretty much dropped that whole act and adopted one of scam artists. Now, for a fee, you can wipe away your troubles, the larger and more, well, problematic problems cost much more to absolve. L. Ron Hubbard himself (Creator of Scientology) was a scam artist. Scientology convinces you that, the people in your life who won't convert to Scientology, are destructive and should be avoided. The have torn families apart. There are now many High level Scientologists who have infiltrated our Government and federal agencies. It is in their doctrine to seek out and eliminate any online opponents of Scientology, They have already conducted several police raids on the homes of online Scientology opponents. It has many corporations under its belt including the worlds largest private intelligence company, the "Office of Special Affairs." They have also been known to target and destroy the lives of people who have left the totalitarian cult.

LOL...wow. According to what I just read Scientology includes belief in God, but offers no details or doctrine about God. They also believe that a human is made up of three parts: the body, the mind and the thetan. (thetan equals soul)

Oh and my favorite part of all, they believe in Xenu. In Scientology doctrine, Xenu is a galactic ruler who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. These events are known as "Incident II" or "The Wall of Fire," and the traumatic memories associated with them are known as the "R6 implant." The Xenu story prompted the use of the volcano as a Scientology symbol.
