I do a lot of pacing
I bite my nail wrist habit in the world
I destroy things.
I can't stand still.
When I find myself getting nervous, I try to take some deep breaths to calm down my pulse. After all, our rapid heartbeat is the result of the "fight or flight" response programmed into our DNA for survival.
Incidentally, our pace of speech DOES tend to keep time with our pulse. If our pulse races, then so does our rate of speech. THAT's why I have learned some deep breathing techniques to calm myself down in the face of nervousness.
