It sounds as if an assumption has been made that they automatically would not get along, even in a unique situation. When we seek to find only the differences of our believes and values we miss out on sharing the 97% that connects us all together in common as individuals, as groups and as nations. Yet more importantly we devalue ourselves as human beings, as a unique feeling, thinking and achieving species with opportunities and choices like no other creator on the planet.

If each of them practiced with true faith, they would get along fine and exude respect for each other.

As individuals, without outside pressures? They will all get on together just as much as any other 4 people would. Individuals are usually intelligent sensible people, it's crowds/groups that are the idiots and fools It's like when I meet an American I think he or she is a reasonable, friendly, helpful good natured person (and that's true!) but when I read about AmericanS I think they're all f**g idiots who shouldn't be allowed off their continent... lol

They'd have a high probability of rescue since they've got all of the major religions covered and at least ONE of them must be praying to the one true God.

When they are rescued, Ouch, they are going to realize that they were all praying to the same God all the time. :-) :-)

the hindu and buddhist would feed the other two

the christian and moslem would argue and steal food from each other, convinced they were being unfairly treated.

    that's life.

They would get along. It's when you have huge populations of victims of religion, that you have violence, because of fanaticism coupled with mob mentality.

I think Buddhism is also Hindu.

    Possibility:

I guess the Christian would pray to J.Christ and God.
The Muslim would pray to Allah.
And if they are rescued they'd give thanks to Allah and Jesus/God but not as much to the sailors that actually found them. Hopefully those sailors are not gay.

well, if they only were the representation of the religion and not critical thinking people, I would have to assume that everything would be fine until the Christian decided to convert any one of them. Everything is fine until the Christians get involved. A true leader of Islam would respect all prophets of God, including Jesus. A Hindu would praise all things also. A Buddhist would seek the eternal truth within themselves. A Christian would belittle everyone else's faith and call them false, then try to convert and preach to them all, telling everyone whether they're listening or not, about how Jesus is the one true savior, Mohammed is a false prophet, Hindus have it wrong for there is only one god and Buddists have it all wrong even if they believe in love and peace and the pursuit of individual intellect and peace. Above all else, the Christian would be the most annoying. I would wager that the Buddist would come to the conclusion that to live happily on the island that the Christian would have to go. He would speak with the Hindu and the Muslim and they'd decide that an honorable death at the hands of the Muslim would be the best way to deal with the problem. The Hindu would pray to Shiva for a safe journey of the soul, the Muslim would bless the sacrafice that has to be made and the Buddist would go back into a trance to continue uninterrupted to a path of enlightenment. Then, somehow the sons and daughters of the three remaining would grow a world rich in culture and science and live together happy and violence free.

Buddhist would never encourage killing for any what so ever reason at all and there are lots of Chritian who are open minded and peace loving. if u put in the ration, the static shows the one who belittle everyone else's faith and call them false would be muslim. only those people would believe such nonsense like honorable death. NOONE have a right to decide life and death of other in the name of religion. i'm sorry to say this but this is how the world got into lots of religion crisis.

They would get along fine as long as they avoided specific talk of religion. If they talked about religion there could be conflict. But it would be very possible to get along fine.
Just because you don't believe somebody is practicing the true religion doesn't mean you can't treat them with respect and diginity. Actually if they were open minded they may find each others religious practices fascinating if not true.

God will give up on us. That island is already called Earth, LoL.

On a serious note, yes, all of us need to be more understanding and tolerant of each other's faiths, a lot more than we are currently. And that includes the agnostics and atheists. All of us should realise that Faith should be strong within but in the common island, we can't create further islands in our minds. In fact, I would say, that if we all followed our respective religions appreciating the inner significances of the teachings, it would make better individuals AND a better island. The problem is not so much about the religions themselves, but the practitioners who nibble at the surface, mask their hypocrisy and interpret grossly. Take your religion and go inward to reflect on it, and outward to manifest such reflection when you move away from the altar.

i agree totally. aside from which religion u are from, isn't it so simple and obvious what would u think and need to do as a good human being on this world? u don't need the instruction from God of whatever the religion to save a dying person or to share what u have with lesser when u can. it is called common sense and moral.

Well Buddhism isn't really much of a religion but more a way of life. Since The Buddhist and the Hindu both believe in reincarnation, they will both try to swim off and if they die, they will just enter a new life.
The Christian will try and kill the Muslim and vice versa thinking that they will just get into heaven if they die.
The Satanist finds the island 3 days later with everyone dead. :(
