Resolved Question

What do you believe happens to you during death?

Some cultures believe your spirit stays within your body for some days after death begins, others believe you immediately ascend/descend to another world/plane (heaven, hell). Some people see death as an immediate end to existence, while others see it as either a beginning or a process (as I do). Though I have my view on this I am not completely sure. So I would appreciate your views.

Two years ago while taking care of my yard (1 1/3 acre then) in the 90 degree heat, I felt sick and went inside to cool off.I went to sit in a chair and never made it and ended up on the floor. My daughter and her ******e boyfriend found me an hour later. He wouldn't let her call anyone (he stated before that he wished "the old fart" would die) so she went to the neighbors and had them come check on me. They called the rescue squad and when the got there they said I was cold and not breathing. The pounded on my chest some before I opened my eyes long enough to ask why my head hurt and they put me in the ambulance and took me to the hospital. I had had a heat stroke.

Now I was always one who believes we go on to somewhere else but laughed at people who "saw the light". Now I don't laugh at anyone, I didn't see the light but I was standing by the wall watching everything that happened. I can tell you every word that was said and who did what. I "saw" the neighbors father in law try to get her to go home and not be around a dead body and "saw" him get my dog that was licking my face and put him outside.

Guess I'm saying that I KNOW there is something else after, just not sure if it is what I was taught in church or what, but know there is something.

During? I'm afraid some kind of pain.

After? nothing. The end. What really means peace to me.

We are biological beings like animals or plants. Only thing is that we are aware of our imminent mortality and we suffer with it. We desperately need to cling to something that will make us believe we are immortal.

Gods, heavens, hell, reiincarnation -- all this fits multiple purposes for our inquiet and tormented mind.

The idea of compensation for good and bad habits ( fits our need for justice of some sort because we can't handle the random feeling some of us got a better deal in life or got away with something)

And of course the idea that we will live on.

We die, our material fertilizes the ground ( unless you are cremated ) and universe goes on without you.

The human body is just a temporary house .When we die, we step out of the body. We are all eternal beings. But where we spend eternity does not depend how we live - how good or how bad we are!

God wants us to spend eternity with him..and thats called heaven. Where we spend eternity depends on whether we receive his gift. He would very much want you to have it..thats why he died to give it to you - The free gift of being right with God and forgiveness of all your past present and future sins.

So basically, death is just like changing a suit, just step out of my body and land up in heaven.

And by the way, thats exactly whats gonna happen when we die..we may have different views on what happens after death, but this is exactly what happens..you'll know it when you're there.

When you stab a man in the dead of winter, steam will rise from his wounds. Indians used to believe it was his soul escaping his body.

dand1144 thankyou so much for sharing that story with us! it gives one a little more hope and faith that death is not the end. I don't believe it is. I beleive you are given a choice to go into the light or stick around earth for awhile. If you have unfinished business you will stick around. if it is an unexpected death, like dand1144's, or from an accident, your soul is shocked and hasn't quite realized the body it once inhabited is dead. Also in dand's case it wasn't his time to go yet. if you have led a good, rewarding fullfilling life i think you move on to a place like Heaven where you are reunited with loved ones. i think if you haven't led a totally fullfilling life and your soul hasn't learned what it was meant to learn, you are sent to a type of holding place where you sit and watch your whole life played out like a movie and you reflect on those times when you could have made better choices. you are then given the choice to come back, be reborn into another body to do it all over again. There are many books about reincarnation and I have also proven it in myself. So i know reincarnation to be real. God gives second chances. I don't believe in hell. Earth is hell, besides i beleive God is all loving and all forgiving. Why would a God like that make you burn for eternity? He'd have to be a pretty abusive parent now wouldn't he? besides there are worse things you can go through on Earth than you could ever go through in hell!

I don't believe death is the end it is only a beginning! we are souls trapped in a human body. That human body is mortal. the soul is immortal and free, after death it has no ties to the body it once inhabited.

I believe the physical body dies-but the mind and soul are intact. I believe in reincarnation. The bits in between are a bit hazy. Dont believe we really die cause the soul is alive. Believe we all have eternal life-just not in a physical form.

my friend passed away last week, he was studying to be a philosopher, specifically nietzche, if thats how you spell his name. 6 months before his death he dreamed of himself dieing and wrote it down in a memory book. His sister read over his memory book after he'd passed and he'd died the way his dream said he would. the final line of his dream was "I finally wake up"
I think thats what happens when we die, we finally wake up from this crazy dream of life

As many as there are on the planet is as many of the experiences there can be and can differ.. so I was told by my guides when I asked this question many years ago....but I wanted more answers and this is what I finally felt comfortable with....

You are as you think and believe...so if you believe in an afterlife then there is...if not then for you there isnt until you realise you are dead and ask for help...

If you believe in the afterlife depends on what you believe...if you believe there is a God and you sit at his feet singing hymns then that is what you will experience until you get sick of that...and get on with your life over there too...

If you know about life over there...then you will automatically enter into it with full knowledge of how it works over there and who you really are...enjoying the meeting of all your loved ones there that you recognise immediately and after the big party there.... you may go to your own funeral and check out all the congregation and all your grieving loved ones trying to comfort them with your new skills and senses, and you may also play a little enjoying the freedom from the body......

After a few days or so (our time) you will go through a process of re-evaluating the life you have just lived but with your guides present and access to all you have lived and the choices you made for all of them...a multi dimensional kaleidoscope of all you have done.... and may discuss what you would like to do from that point....you could discuss a return to physical life....what period of time etc...how the planet will be at that time and what benefits for yourself and for the inhabitants of the planet etc....

Or you may choose not to...and choose an experience elsewhere in the multiverses available to you....and your free choice...

I agree with woodinhouse. As per the Torah, the true bible and the quran when you die you wait for the world to end and for the judgement day.

YOu kind of loose track of time until your called upon by the lord when there is nothng left on earth. All the people who ever lived will be judged on that day. The good, sincere ones are shown the way to heaven and the bad souls the way to hell. He may judge some kindly depending on the good deeds they've done and some harshly. And in heaven you live forever happy.

There must be things that Ive mentioned which actually dont happend and some things that we / I are not aware of.

i believe you are sent for judgment, and you have to face your wrong doingings then if and when it is over you go to heaven or hell, where in heaven your best dreams come true or if hell your worst nightmares are realized

Your body projects from itself and in most cases you meet and talk to past loved ones on the other side and you get a KICK in the head about life!

It has nothing to do with what do you believe lol.
So you must have asked "what happens during death and eventually "after" that".

*During* death....
Lack of oxygen creates panic, neurons misfire and create hallucinations, until a final curtain of darkness gradually overcomes you. I can imagine that, but nothing further.

when you die:
your body is malfunctioning, then shuts down.
the bad non-working machine is thrown away (burnt or burried) so it stay out of the way of the still functioning ones.
believing other ways may comfort you, but also stops you from living your life as you should : conscious of reality !
