You are so right. I agree completely. Otherwise it becomes, torment and stalking, right?

I assume they don't want to see me at that time, and I go away.
Unless we had arranged the time for the visit...then I might get worried if the person doesn't answer. I'd probably call them on the phone.

Go home. Surely you have had times when you didn't want company. You don't need to take it personally. Maybe their home is not straight or they are having a bad day. I find that calling first is best.

I leave. They clearly don't want to answer the door, so why persist?

Leave after the first 3 tries. they probably don't want visitors. Continuing to stand there and annoy them is rude. Maybe they're in the middle of taking a huge dump or a shower or something.

Depends who the person is. If it was my boyfriend I would wait outside till some1 comes out- and watch through the windows too.

You should "leave". It's their home, if they do not answer than go away.

walk back a few yards.. then i turn around and face the window..then i run and jump through it, doing a roll on the living room carpet, mission impossible style. I get up with soldier-like reflexes.. search for the dude who tried to ignore me then i charge him and give him a really big hug. You were expecting i was goina do something more lethal, he was expecting the same thing..but i changed the game up. I like twists, if you dont like twists then i'll jump through your window and ill hug you as well. So you best watch yourself.
