What do you do when your friend is not doing well and you are trying to be nice to them?

but they are criticise you and are being harsh in return?

Just listen to them and don't interrupt.It can be annoying when someone doesn't try to understand. Being harsh doesn't help, you're just pushing that person away. You can let them know you are there for them and give them there space! When they are ready, they'll come back.

Let them know you are there for them, then back off and give them space. They'll come back to you when they feel. I do this - not to be cruel - but when I'm in a dark place I'd rather be there alone.

let them know i'm there when they need me, then leave them alone. sometimes what a person needs is space.

I leave and tell them to let me know when they feel like having company again. I don't their anger get me down. And when they call, I come running.
