So your saying that funding is spent more on materials than expertise? Or that materials come foremost compared the students education? And mind you I don't take a stance in my questioning, therefor it is not a debate.

Consider it more of an engaged question. Not so much a debate, but trying to answer something I merely want to know. So we should focus on having teachers who want nothing more than to teach, and not having lesson plans made that are put in place all over the country? Teachers should be allowed to make their subjects engaging, rather than simply teaching the plans, they get the students involved more? And please remember that this is an open conversation, the use of materials to assist in your train of thought is not prohibited.

Unions need to create standards and expectations for teachers and dismiss those who fail to meet said standards.

So are you saying that everything falls on the unions? What about the "No child left behind," act?

No child left behind screwed the system, meant advancing children whether the passed or not, etc.

'No child left behind' policy has created a generation of youth who feel a sense of entitlement and not to mention a generation with no real work ethic.

I agree, but how do we fix it? How do we fix an entire generation's idea of what they are owed? How do we get them to work like they need to?

    I won't make this long.

    (1) Stop blaming the Teachers for the little Bast**ds that don't want to learn and cause trouble for the students that do.

    (2) Make the Parents more accountable for their kids that do interrupt classes and harass other students.

    (3) Follow the European Model: Expell all Troublemakers or give them the option to stay out of school so they can go to Vocational Schools and learn a trade to become productive members of society.

Children should be taught according to their best abilities: bring back grammar schools and selective education.

Sort of like what Germany does, students are put on education paths that best suite them. They are put into higher education that specialize them into a job they can do well. Should we take up this idea? Or should we try another?

You wouldn't happen to know how the current system is set up would you? It was to my knowledge that school boards fell under the control of the unions, or at least if they wanted the unions positives, they had to allow some influence.

Students should be allowed to fail and have their final grades published in the local paper.

An excellent idea, but that's not really the cause of any issue we now have... What about the things you feel are wrong right now?
