Against it. Any animal or person can become a dangerous weapon with out proper guidence. Singling out pits is...
well, put it this way, its like being racist but against a breed instead of a race in my opinion.

We should be BANNING the IDIOTS who train the dogs to be aggressive... not the animal! Any dog can be trained to act with aggression... I have a pit/lab mix dog and she is the sweetest dog ever... super smart and well behaved... but Im a responsible dog owner. Those DUMB AS$ES who are not worthy of owning animals and who abuse them and illegally breed and sell them should be BANNED from LIFE!!!

what?

If that is true I am completely against it. the coolest, sweetest, friendliest dogs I have ever had the pleasure to play with as a little girl were pitbulls. I would LOVE to have a pitbull! They are very loyal and protective!

but my babez is too afraid it may "turn" on us. his family feeds him nonsense about it.. =(

though when we can afford it... I'll get my puppy one day. lol

Like any animal a Pit Bull is dangerous, and like any animal Pit Bulls are only dangerous when they feel threatened. If an animal attacks, any animal, they are either responding to either a direct threat like a child bounding up to them (there is probably history of a child causing pain to the animal if it's domesicated) when confined or it has been trained to be agressive. Usually such training involves some form of pain or agression - hence the animal respondes agressively because it does not want to be hurt again. Or the person is tresspassing, all animals are protective of their teratory.

Either way, a breed or species is not the problem, it is the owner that is the problem. Properly socialised and trained animals pose little to no threat to either humans or other animals.

In short I am against Pit Bull Banning if it is the first option explored because law makers are too lazy to do otherwise.

The problem isn't with the pitbulls. They can be amazing dogs. If they're raised well. The problem is in the owners.

Maybe not banned, but I think they should be closely regulated. You know proper fences and stuff...

Ban them. Dog breeds aren't 'natural'. They have been selectively bred for certain characteristics. I'm in favor of an aggressive sterilization and banning policy until the breed dies out.

I've met one pitbull and she is lovable, although the size freaks me out (big dogs knock me over therefore I freak out) but really why ban them, it's the people who breed them to fight who are responsible not the dog. It's like saying let's ban violent children because the parent was not able to take care for them properly. With proper care animals can be really nice one.
