Probably. No one in their right mind would ask for a two year break. Just let it go and move on, let the healing begin.

Thanks for your advice.

She wants to play the field and leave her options open .... using you as a door mat if it goes wrong .... if she was honest enough to say it.

This is one of the more likely possibilities.

It means the relationship is really over, but she is scared to be alone and wants an easy way back into the relationship if she can't find someone else. She is using you, it's best to move on.

I would start at the end and work my way up

Do you feel it’s over? I can understand that you don’t know where you are as things stand and her attitude is *definitely* out of order here. She doesn’t know if she wants you or not, by her own admission, so you need to keep that in mind and this is why there is confusion *without* conclusion. She should know if she wants to be in a relationship with you; what she is doing doesn’t make any real sense and there is no reason (at all) why she should be doing this other than whatever her motive is.

Whatever her motive is, you don’t know what it is whilst she *does* know. The idea to separate for 2 years is way beyond my rational thinking; I mean, why 2 years? I don’t know the name of the game, but she’s certainly playing a game with you here.

Tell her you aren’t prepared to play games with her and that you’d rather move on (as in *now*) and break free from her. Even at that point she might not tell you what’s going on in her mind, and if she holds her hands up an tries to explain, then don’t even stick around because no amount of explaining what she is thinking is going to make any sense. Look at your options in being free of her.

IMHO … of course
If she is going to prison, fine. Otherwise, you just need to let that relationship go, like Rose did with Jack after he stopped breathing in Titanic.

Crazy, even after 6 months you will have both drifted apart so much there will be no chance of coming back together anyway.
