What do you think is the best type of acoustic guitar?

I just bought an acoustic Fender starcaster. I have no frame of reference and I am just learning to play. I was just curious if I made a wise decision. So far I like the guitar, my only issue would be how far away the strings are from the frets, but again I have no frame of reference.

I have a Guild acoustic and a very rare Tama acoustic. I also have an Ibanez electric/acoustic that I love. I've played Martin and Taylor acoustics.

From what I've heard, the Fender Starcaster is a well-rated guitar to begin with. You don't want to learn on a junk guitar. If your strings seem too far from the neck (compared to other acoustic guitars), it might be worth having your local guitar shop adjust the neck.

There's no single "best type" of guitar. I have a Fender acoustic, my brother has a Gibson hollow-body acoustic/electrifiable. Friends of mine play several different types of acoustics...Guild, Martin, Takamime, Ovation...and each has a somewhat unique sound, but I wouldn't call one "better" than another (it's personal choice).

Martin guitars are very good. Probably the best acoustic guitars that i know of. The 0-15 is my favorite martin guitar. expensive though...

Taylor is fairly expensive, but it's the best.

Did you buy this brand new if so you can have the neck lowered there is a nut inside the cut out hole... get a pro to do it...

Fender is perfectly fine.. all guitars very stick to the major brands...

Don't really know. I have a Yamaha acoustic (a cheap one) and several Fender electrics, but never seen a Fender acoustic. Are you playing it straight from the store? If so, you can take it to someplace that repairs and does set-ups on guitars and see if it's possible to lower the action of the strings. I know all my electrics you can do that, don't know for sure if you can with an acoustic.

So would I just ask them if they could do a set up? How much does that usually run. Yes I was just playing it from the store.

Ask them if they can lower the action. A set-up on my 5-string bass (adjusting the action, intonation, and correcting a back-bow in the neck) cost me $35.00 about a month ago.

Not saying it's the best because it's an opinion and I haven't even played every acoustic guitar to tell you which one I think is the best but so far my favorites are Taylor's.
