Resolved Question

What do you think leads obesity, and can everyone lose weight at the same rate?

From the last question, I saw at least half of the people have no idea. ---

something everyone is missing in their answers:

Fat cells are made most rapidly during specific times – the last three months as a fetus until about 18 months of age, between the ages of four and seven, and during early adolescence.

After that, fat cells only increase or decrease in size depending on whether you gain or lose weight.

Lifestyle and dietary habits are the major components that lead to obesity. People need to recognize their eating [and drinking] habits and understand their metabolism. Caloric intake must not exceed the number of calories burned per day in order to lose weight. However, I do agree that obesity prevention starts at a young age and must be modeled by those around.

No, definitely not. Everyone cannot lose weight at the same rate due to different genetic composition and lifestyles. Some rich and wealthy people have excess to eat while some poor, working class are eating a lot of cheap, unhealthy fast-foods. Some have access to gyms while others are working in the fields everyday to make a living. So no, losing weight is a very personal and private matter, sometimes, it can be choice.

I think men definitely lose weight more quickly than women, because they have more muscle. I think too many people can't deal with their emotions, so they turn to food to comfort themselves. Some times thou, medications that people take can put weight on them and there's nothing they can do to stop the weight gain, but I still believe it's a combination of overeating and lack of exercise that makes most people heavy.

It can be a malfunction of the thyroid or other organs, or it can be overeating. Regardless of the cause it leads to low self esteem and many, many other health related issues.

Different people, different metabolisms, different support - all of these and more make the difference in how quickly the weight is dropped, so there is no way that is can be at the same rate.

I believe that in early childhood a pattern is set. Begin a child on vegetables, because of course the palate would prefer the sweeter fruits. There is a less likelyhood of adult obesity when an infant & toddler is exposed to healthier eating habits. Then, it is up to the parent to follow through by good example. Don't buy the chips, cookies and sodas...limit juice intake. Encourage exercise, and participate in the same behavioral pattern with them. Many times, obesity begins at birth. No, not all people lose weight at the same rate.

I think an eating disorder leads to it, and I don't think that one can loose it the weight at the same rate unless they are suffering from some other disorder or disease.

I don't think everybody can lose weight at the same rate, and I have heard that eating disorders aren't the only contributer to obesity. I think I heard somebody say it can have something to do with glands.

People are all made differently and will lose weight differently.
Obesity generally comes from either an eating disorder (Compulsive Over Eating Disorder, which is the largest eating disorder in the US) or people being lazy and not caring.

It can be caused by bodily malfunctions, organ problems, bad metabolic rate etc, but half the reason there is so many obese people is 'cause they're all too lazy to exercise properly or cook a decent meal for themselves. Poor diet basically. But if you look at America, they're mainly obese there, because they don't exercise, and even if they do, they live off junk food, while as in a place like...lets say Japan? France? Vietnam? They take the time to cook a proper meal with everything you need in it.
