They can work with honesty and trust...and hopefully a very understanding and forgiving partner.

Depends on the individuals. I'm in one, have been for two years. I trust him, he trusts me, we talk almost everyday. I love my space, so works out well for me. I like it like this. I know where to find him when I need, he knows where I am, we'll fly to see each other every other weekend & that's enough for me, not enough him though lol.

I'm in a long distant relationship. It's wonderful. I've known him for 3 years, starting to date awhile ago. It's tough sometimes, but in the end it's worth it when I'm finally able to talk to him again.

My long distance relationship isn't working. For one, he only sends me 1 text message a day, simply if I bother to text him at all. Otherwise, its zilch. How am I supposed to work with that?

I think that it isn't just about understanding, its also about dedication, and showing each other that you mean something.

It depends on what you want and what you are used to. I like my freedom and I do not mind being alone sometimes. I did it for a year (he was in CA and me in MI) I flew there about one time a month. It worked for me as I am free to travel any time I like, I think it would be vary hard if we both had full time jobs. He lives with me now and sometimes I miss my alone time.

it is difficult to maintain but if you truly love each other, distance will not get in the way....

It's hard. My husband works out of town and we get to see each other on the weekends if he doesn't have to work. Sometimes we only get to see each other once a month. We can't Skype because there's no internet where he's at so we mainly talk on the phone & text. It gets kind of lonely.
