If someone is very insecure, I of course would feel badly ...we can all identify at one point or another, or many, about feeling insecure- maybe with some , the air of "insecurity" might show a bit more. I think more patience is simply called for that- that is what they are needing; it is not that they need to be treated SO differently, but I might be more sensitive toward them about certain things.
It doesn't take much on my part, and might help them feel maybe a bit more secure at the moment=)

If you manage to make them feel you care about them and you accept them how they are their insecurities should go away fairly quickly, at least as far as their relationship with you is concerned.

I try to mess with them a little, they are easy to tease : ) once they can stand up for themselves, then you have something to work with!
