What do you think the difference between pity and caring is (if you think that there is a difference)?

Love the answers so far. Another way of looking at these terms could be by position. You can pity someone from a distance and especially from a lofty place. Caring might be seen as wrapping your arms around them or taking them by the hand while empathy is like jumping in their skin because you have been to the same place that your friend is now walking. IMO

loveall4ever	Posted Oct 17th, 2009 at 4:48PM Pity has a bit of a judgmental tinge. Empathy is better, because it means you regret the circumstances someone is and feel for them, but you don't look down on them, your feelings are on the same plane. Caring is about making someone and their circumstances important to you. Rated: +2Vote for this!
