well, i think the person is trying to say that being in this relationship they have lost a sence of self. Its either they have been spending all this energy to try and care for thier partner and in the progress negelected thier self, orrr they have realized that partner's aims in life doesnt match up with what they want to they think its best to end things so they wont have to compromise or pretend to be interested when they are not. Nextly the person may have forgotten about himself and really want to explore other things or people in life and being in a relationship stops him from being free because he has to make descions ffor two not one and that in itself can be burdensome. He is tired and wants space, he wants to figure himself out or be with someone else thats more his type. when he was in the previous relationship he lost himself and he felt programmed
