What does a ring around the moon mean?

Last night there was a huge white ring around a full moon, and I wondered what it meant, scientifically and spiritually. I'm interested in physical explanations and occult ones. Thank you for informing me!

LOL Mandy!

It indicates moisture in the upper atmosphere and is one of the first indicators of an approaching warm front. You are actually seeing refraction caused by ice crystals.

I have seen many of these and they can be brilliant and beautiful.

I'm not sure, but that happened one Christmas Eve here. It was so neat. A lot of people in my family are very religious and said that it was a sign God was watching us. I haven't seen it happen again, but I'll never forget it.

It's a moonbow. Moisture in the air refracts the light.

Moisture in the atmosphere in the form of ice or water causes the ring around the moon. It has provoked wives tales and such. Usually you can expect certain weather phenomenon after seeing such, but I really don't know that much about it...
Try googling it, I bet you'd find a wealth of information there, scientific and spiritual...

Atmospheric conditions might have projected the image of a halo. It happens a lot to the sun too, but most people don't notice it.

The light from the moon reflected in ice crystals. I don't know the spiritual explanation. Sorry.

the scientific side seems well covered so I'll go spiritual

the energy of the moon is complex

Mystery & Chaos,
Flow & Evolution,
Birth & Death,
Emotions & Soul,
Wisdom & Magick.

Through her various phases and faces, the Moon guides us through the Mysteries of life.

The Moon is aligned with the element Water.
And She is Queen of the Night, sailing through the heavens with Her starry host.

I would say that rings around the moons face would signify growing strength in her aspect. But to be able to absolutely tell you, I'd have to experience it myself.

if anything came to you - while watching it - a word - a thought - delve deeper - there lies your answer.
