What does 'cuddly' mean when used to describe someone's figure? Is it a compliment?

I wonder if men & women feel differently about being called 'cuddly'? Would you use the word to describe yourself & if so how overweight are you? Do you even need to be overweight to be 'cuddly'?

To me, 'cuddly' is a nice way of saying you are carrying a few extra pounds, but they still like you..!

I've only met one man I ever thought of as cuddly, and he was not the least bit overweight. Just firm and not big. His height is on the short side for a man, (5'6") and he is fit and healthy. He does tai chi daily and runs too. It wasn't how he looked that made him cuddly, but an attitude. Tough to describe. He was just so comfortable to be around. Like a teddy bear. Cuddly and cute and not demanding.

Usually I think cuddly means being called chubby. I wouldn't really wanna be called that, 'cos I want to be skinny, but other people might not be offended by it.

I think it sounds cute! So it would be a child of either gender, female only if not a child. Maybe an exception might be a male adult was cuddly if his significant other was referring to him in a nice manner.

I like cuddly and I think that people use it in a positive sense. Who doesn’t like a cuddle?

I would guess, it is similar to cute and adorable.

Well, cuddly isn't the first word i'd use to describe myself.
