What does EP do for you? What does it gratify? What need does it cater to? Does it really fulfill that need?

As someone new to this I am questioning why I am doing this and
whether it is a 'false' answer to a need or whether it really does supply
something I need.

Is This A Good Question? (5)

Good question mate. I joined this site yesterday and found that there a lot of caring people with real skills in helping others to resolve issues. As a student counsellor it gives me the opportunity to gain feedback from those I have thus far tried to genuinely help but I do so with caution.

There seems to be those (I have since discovered) that are far more desperate for the attention rather than an answer to their problem or abstract observations. Like facebook (in my opinion) its a forum for pretense but I really see a humanitarian aspect here that Facebook lacks. For some its just a way of passing time and for others a real need to get answers, either way is fine but I'm here to share with a genuine desire to learn and to give back. I guess its about having the patience to know the difference.

Its only early days for me but my wish is to strike up meaningful contact with real people from all over the world about common issues and to have a laugh a long the way but I do tread carefully as I tend to be an idealist rather than a realist.

I guess it can be whatever you want it to be. Be patient, I'm sure there are a few jewels in this crown.

I'll give you a serious answer on this one, I work at home, and keep EP open off and on, to take breaks, thats when I pop in and also chat with friends, ...so I'm basically multitasking, even when I might just be painting, ..or writing something") I think a lot of people do that from work, or home..

So you have actually made friends on EP?

    Sounds good.

Interesting answer - what space does it fill? If that's too nosy, no worries. But I guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. Is it better than the people right here around me because I can be anonymous and therefore possibly let loose a few sides of me otherwise kept submerged?
