Death is a common theme in dreams. I don't know if you know anything about Tarot, but when you pull a death card in a Tarot deck, it does not mean LITERAL death - it means a significant shift in a relationship or a life-changing event is going to happen. Death in a dream signifies an ending and/or a new beginning.

Lots of parents have dreams in which their children die, and it's extremely disturbing. But these dreams happen a lot of times in response to the child growing up. There comes a time when the child wants to start testing their freedom, and the parent knows their relationship has shifted and changed, thus the dreams.
