Me and my friend decided to get out of a relationship and start over by workig on building ourtrust together, and get back together when the trust was built. I asked him a couple weeks into the date if he was still trying, or was he finished. And he told me " look im going to tell u to hold ur breath u can move on if need be i jus got sum things i need to fix within myself " - And I don't know too well on what he meant by " hold your breath ".

He is telling to wait as in this is not going to happen soon because he needs to fix some things, it basically means just wait.

I have not heard it used as you described it, but there is a saying though, "don't hold your breath" which does have a meaning, he didn't say this to you did he?
