That they want space and time to figure things out. Sometimes having someone else that you are close to, or in love with, makes that difficult. Its really not a bad thing. And it doesn't mean its the end of your relationship or anything like that. It is good to have separate time alone to realize things. And it can actually help a relationship very much. Hope this helps.

This is the most level headed response. All other comments have assumed the VERY worst which for all we know isn't the case at all.

Means that they have someone else that they are interested in and they want to put you on hold to see if that works out.

It means he's bored and wants some strange. You can either dump him or get laid by someone different while he's off doing his thing.

It means that they are unsure of their role in the relationship . and they want to think about it , get their facts straight and then see if there is a good future in your relationship

They are rethinking the choice of you as a mate. So be prepared for the worse. You may need to reevaluate too. As this means big changes are in store for both of you. Usually a sign of unhappiness, unfulfillment, and undesiring. Space = middle-aged turnover or wanting someone new or different or reaching out. If reaching out to you, good. All other things are not with you. Sorry.

They want to see if this other woman likes them. If she doesn't, they want to come back to you.

It means they think they can do better and want to leave the current relationship as a fallback.
