What does respect mean to you? did you need to be taught how to show and recognise it?

respect does need to be taught. four years ago I moved into a low-income, subsidzed housing apartment complex. The people that lived there had no respect for eachother, themselves, or anybody's property- including their own. The worst part was that their children perpetuated that same lowlife, disrespectful manner of living. They have no chance in life. You would almost feel sorry for them if they didnt behave like animals. My fiancee received his kidney transplant 7 months ago, and as soon as he was well enough to return to work we moved. It is a shame that something as simple as respect does not come naturally to human beings.

I really think respect is mostly common sense. Treat others as you want to be treated, fairly and honestly.
