Alas, I'm more familiar with the rather cynical saying, "no good deed goes unpunished", and often that's what I've observed. The saying YOU quote would be more just, though---more like karma.

It means when you do something good and have a pure heart doing it (without expecting anything in return), good things will develop in your own life. No good deed goes unnoticed or unrewarded. For all the good you do, good things will happen to you, too.
