    Nations and religions and ethnicism.
    People thinking some god prefers their nation over Them, who have no msnners and are uncgangeably evil.
    If we eradicate all the religionists and nationalists we have a chance, before they turn the whole world into a stone age shithole.

    Life came into being. Violence and devastation and conflict predate humanity by about 3.5 billion years.

    And of course prior to that there were still natural disasters, both terrestrial and cosmic.

    So I guess what happened to peace on earth is "people thought it up."
