I suppose it could just mean that there are certain issues that are hard to deal with. Exes. Living situations that aren't that great- like the woman who is trying to date but has to live with a demanding mom. Or when you are a single parent and your children and work take much of your time. Or when you have a job that means you work all hours, maybe swing shifts, so it's hard to find a good time to see your boyfriend. Long distance relationships can be difficult.
All sorts of things can make a relationship feel complicated.

Mostly it means that others won't understand why you keep putting up with eachother but you probably can't let go of eachother (yet) so it's complicated but it's actually not for the people in it.

Probably that you need to get out of it. Good relationships should not be very complicated. Easy relationships are the ones to be in. You should feel comfortable together, no drama, no insecurities around each other, total acceptance. See? Easy.
