What gift to give my step-mom?

I love this women to death but I've always had a hard time picking gifts out for her. Usually in the past years I've given her gift cards to clothing stores, Bed and Bath but never a solid gift.

She wears jewelry of course but it's really not flashy. I never see her rock the diamonds, gold this or that. LOL but I would like to get her a necklace/bracelet or something without having to ask her "what do you want?"

Any ideas?

you have 3 good answers, I guess a girl bonding day would not be appropriate, but, even a simple card expressing how you feel to go with the gift. good luck, but I am sure she will know how you feel. Congratulations on a fine step mom.

A mother's ring.... unless that would be insulting to your real mother.

How about a charm bracelet with a "mom" charm - or any sort of jewelry that can be engraved with a loving message that suits your situation.

Take her on a girl-bonding day...
manicures and pedicures after a light lunch at a local park, shopping (buy her something she expresses interest in then, without asking) then maybe finish off with a movie and a late dinner after...
Make it about being together and the love you feel for each other in spite of the 'step' part of your relationship...

Shopping for step-mothers is so hard. For years I've tried to find just the right thing for mine - but I can't find anyone with a conscience to sell.

Take her to a great restaurant. Maybe there's something in her home she needs done and do it for her.
