Biblically? Religiously? Spiritually? <br />

Realistically: When we die, we cease to function, are no longer viable in terms of productivity, and we have no future in terms of Earthly standards. All your friends and family will mourn you and move on, you'll never meet anyone knew, or hear your favorite song, or indulge in a favorite past time. It's Game Over.<br />
<br />
If there is life after death, regardless of Heaven or Hell, Dr. Anthony Rizzi explains it much better than I could in his book "The Science Before Science". You'd have no access to physical stimuli or intellectual input/feedback anymore. You'd have no physical senses in which to gather that input. If you're still sentient after death, if you're still part of any kind of electro-machanical-quantum system, if you have your memories, and access to them... That's what you'd be. A bundle of free thoughts and unquantifiable energy. Or not. We won't know until we pass on ourselves, but then we wouldn't be able to speculate or answer your question.

Atheist and none-believers believe that we disappear into nothingness; we didn't have a good enough reason to be alive in the first place as far as a *lot* of them are concerned, so how the heck do we get to become something else? If they believed in anything else, they would have to consider we have a Spirit, but that would make a mess of their beliefs, so it doesn't work for them. But I think that's a tad narrow minded even for the 'more educated' none-believers. But personally speaking and sitting on the shelf between Christianity and a deeper sense of what 'Life' is, I believe there is a Spiritual side to life which carries on after we give up our body. I think that makes more sense than to say "Poof!' there goes another one!" and believe we just 'disappear'<br />
<br />
IMHO ... of course ;)<br />

Im sure we have seen birth marrage and death. when you lose someone you love, they go to a better place, they are in no more pain but they leave behind loved ones, the only way to look at it is you spent time with that person, the spirit and soul dies not the body. but you will always keep that person alive from your treasured memories. they always stay in your mind and stay in your heart. so no-one cant answer the question because there is no answer. its all according how you look at it. and unless you go through the experience of losing a loved one then it is a question no-one will never answer.

When you die, your spirit and body (which together form your soul) are separated. Your spirit goes back to God. Your body returns to the dust. Later, during the 1st (for Gods chosen elect) or 2nd (the rest of the world) ressurection, your spirit is joined with your new "spiritual" body. The world will be judged / corrected by Gods elect (who have gone through the process in this life) After that, God is silent on his plans for us. But its going to be good.
