US $ is continuing its reign as Global currency for simple reason that a replacement, has not been evolved. when US $ got delinked US is printing money and issuing bonds as if there is no tomorrow. If people who hold those bonds, one fine morning decide to change them into another currency, America's Chickens will come to the roost

If we have another 4 years of Obama driving the value of the dollar down it could happen. The only reason it would be unlikely is due to the fact that the euro is too unstable and the yen is artificially valuated by the Chinese to make their exports harder to compete with.

I'd watch with interest! I don't think the good old GBP will make a comeback as the global currency, so its likely to be the yuan or euro as suggested. Might not happen in my lifetime, but it will one day.

We are on the brink of financial implosion as a planet ,.so it will be a shared experience.<br />
Although it sounds drastic ,we may all be better off for it.<br />
Suddenly we will all be made more equal.<br />
Maybe social co-operation will come back to the fore?<br />
