I agree with oooooooooh and hunkalove you can never go wrong with a good book.
It depends on your relationship to them. Cheap is Hotwheels and My Little Ponies. If they are important to you, don't spare any expense. I go into debt at Christmas for my kids, because it is the biggest time of the year for them. Of course my kids are grown, but when they were younger, I spared no expense. The gifts when young are not just about what they get, it is about living the imagination and believing in goodness from an anonymous person called Santa. :D It's about maintaining their innocence and their dreams.

The Nintendo Wii can now be found for around $80(much cheaper used). The children can both easily share and there are plenty of games that you may like as well.
