What is a film that SHOULD be seen and why?

Akira Kurosawa's Rhapsody in August. Its the story of an elderly Japanese woman from Nagasaki and how she copes during the visit of her much loved Americanized Grandchildren. The last scene of that movie, in my opinion, is one of the most emotionally wrenching ever filmed.

The Green Mile is not only a moving story, and maybe plays with the viewer's emotions, but it is anti-death penalty so that must be a good thing!

Schindler's List. It is a true story of a flawed man who saw what was going on in Nazi Germany and somehow managed amidst the Third Reich's "Final Solution" to save nearly 1,200 Jews. I find it a powerful and moving account and should be seen because it simultaneously shows the WORST of that time ... and what may have been the BEST of it.

Cold Mountain. The book is awesome but it can be hard to get into. It tells a story of our history that should never be forgotten as well as the strength of the human spirit and the enduring power of love.

Gone Baby Gone- shows that doing what is "right" is not always best.
Crash- proves that predjudice is everywhere.
GranTorino- tells us to be open to all friendships and that even old uded can kick ***!
TommyBoy-because it's silly and always makes me laugh. And laughter is good!

Any romantic comedy,.including the entire series of "desperate housewives"...but without the ads.
