What is a good sugar free pancake syrup?

The only kind I ever tried was Cary's. It is good. When I was on a strict diet I used to use this and it tasted great. When I stopped the diet and started using "regular" products it just was OK.

Umm, there's sugar in fruit, lorraine, that's why it tastes sweet. Where do you get UNnatural fruit?

Is there such thing as sugar free syrup.

There's an additive called Aspartame and it is supposed to be toxic and it is added to all sugar free items.

The sugar in fruit is mostly FRUCTOSE which has a different effect, biologically, than sugar. So, a fruit reduction would be nice. Alternatively, you can buy fructose and make up a spice tea (milk and spices like cardamon, anise, pepper and cinammon altogether) and let it boil down to thick... then add some fructose and you have a delicious syrup. You can also juice sweetpotaoes and boil up the "liquid" with some cinammon - if you cook it in the oven it makes a divine creme brullee "au naturelle" but if you cook it on the stove top you can add spices or coffee or essences like caramel and go with that..

Think out of the box, and consider that a syrup is generally a reduction of sugar water with other stuff thrown in.. so change the sugar water to something naturally sweet (usually rich in fructose) or alternatively go the spice route and discover a whole other world as you play with ideas..
