What is a person who constantly invalidates anything you say?

Like what is their problem?
What I mean is they believe themselves to be some kind of authority and so they (almost saintly) invalidate anything you say... ANYTHING.... like the color blue is a cool color and they say... no its actually _x_... or if you say Star Wars was a popular movie they'll say no it was not at all.

What would their motivation be exactly?
I just need an answer for some reason... I have an idea I just need to hear it.

those are the people who are worthless to worry over. don't even dare try to listen to them. in fact, all you're listening to is meaningless comebacks for no apparent reason AT ALL
