What is an appropriate graduation gift?

I have a niece and nephew graduating this week. They both send me an invitation. I want to give them both something but I'm not sure what. Is it okay to give money? I'm new at this.

money is fine, just pick a laugh-out-loud card to go with it. Shows you put some thought into it and makes it more personal.

Depends on the recipient. But money is good anytime.

I'd give cash, or a gift card to their favorite clothing store (old navy, dillards, hollister's).....but, put it in one of those cards, that you can record your voice on it, then it plays a song....it's very personal, since money generally isn't.

The theme du jour is "stuff they will find useful in the chapter of life about to start." So...an iPod is always a good choice, as is a nice stack of dollar bills or (even better) a gift card.

I'd go with a gift card to a store you think they'll like, but that they haven't been to yet that you know of, and that sells things relevant to where they're heading now.

Money is that gift that seems lazy or impersonal but for a college kid in the begining stages of adulthood and college and needing exactly that.....it is a great and very appropriate gift.
