Its like being realistic and knowing their are no such things as ghosts, and that the things roaming your halls in the dark at night are in reality, just clowns.

When I read the book "Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley, it seemed to offer some ideas regarding psychosis. We have filters on our brains, all of us.

I think that those who suffer from schizophrenia don't have those filters that differentiate their reality from the reality that is generally socially accepted. So they can't tell the difference between inner voices and outer voices, or the difference between visions/hallucinations and the tangible or "real" world.

I don't have that psychosis however I imagine that multiple personalities and daily life would be difficult at best.

My first stepfather had multiple personalities and he almost murdered me when I was 10. True story! I only see "DANGER" when I either hear the words Schizophrenia/Multiple Personalities or if I know someone with it. Too me....it's a death sentence because their personalities shifts are too unpredictable.

Read The Center Cannot Hold by Elyn Saks. And then learn about the Hearing Voices Movement. Links are below. As a sister of someone labeled "schizophrenic", these are the first accounts I've found in 33 years that have been remotely helpful.
