What is it like working for the department of state?
i would like to work for it because my parents suggested it. so i am more interested, but i am not exactly sure what would interest me because i know nothing about it but i would like to know. i am thinking about working hard so that i could possibly have a career in a spanish embassy. but i also heard i wouldn't be able to choose a country and that if i am sent to a country whose language i don't know, i would learn it in an intensive course. i think this is pretty much all i know and i am not even sure that is correct. please help. thanks!

It could be very interesting and would provide great career benefits. The best way to learn about working for them is to get a job there. Then you will have the inside scoop and be better able to judge how everything works and how you are able to move around to different jobs. It is always easier from the inside than from the outside looking in ;) Try it for a year and if you totally dislike it, you can always look for another job. All work experience is good work experience no matter what you are doing. Try to learn all you can while you are there, it will serve you well in the future. Good luck ...

I do not have any experience there. But, it sound a lot better than wasting your life with a minium wage job. I say go for it. You do not know intil you try. Any job you are able to get is a good one.
