On the Genealogy of Morality by Friedrich Nietzsche. It was, apart from Niccolo Machiavelli's work, the first book of philosophy that I read. When I got into it, I realized the world wasn't as narrow and vapid and shallow and small as I had though. I discovered there were people out there with ideas that transcended the facile concerns of the people around me. I felt less desire to kill myself as a result. In a real way, that book saved my life.

Animal Farm. Although it's made me more cynical about politics and did open my eyes at a really young age, I love it and it's my favourite book.
