When we lived in small towns or a village we'd ask if we could go walking around and they tell us to be home before sundown. We'd walk for miles out in the country.....this was rural mid 60's kind of like the movie Stand By Me....just not safe anymore to let children run free for half a day.

Drive around by myself as a teenager. I smashed up a couple of cars at that age. I should have had more experience (and/or maturity) before they gave me the keys. My son turned 16 last year, but he's not interested in learning to drive yet. He says he'll wait until he's 18.

Sit back and be a "lady". This means not standing up for what's right, smile and look pretty, never being able to voice my opinion, and trying to keep a certain "image" (was stuck that way until I was about fifteen years of age)

I'd never let them be dependent on me. They will have to do things on their own way and they will learn from their mistakes.
