It depends on the individuals really. More than ten does have issues but they can be overcome. It does take more effort, more understanding and more work more often and isn't always easy.

In my experience, less than 10 years older or less than 10 years younger. More than that creates issues with generation, perspectives, relating, just 'getting' one another. Too much more of a gap tends to create a parental relationship which is just creepy.

The younger needs to be at least 18 - legal. Other than that I say 10-15 years. I prefer 10 myself.

Other than making sure both people are of legal age why would you eliminate someone based solely on age? Most people for example would not eliminate a whole segment of the population by saying "I would never marry anyone with blue eyes". What if the one person with whom you could establish a mature, loving relationship with had blue eyes? If you eliminated them based on eye color alone you would never discover they were your true love. Age, eye color, height, hair color or any other similar criteria only describes us physically. It is not an indication as to whether you will have successful relationship with this person. The love, loyalty, and friendship the couple shares are much more important factors to consider.

I do not think the gap is important as long as the youngest is "legal". Love is love at any age.

it doesn't really matter as long as both parties are adults.

Well, I think that as long as the MAN and the WOMAN are each legally of age chronologically and mentally, it doesn't matter. Sorry if this offends anyone in an other than heterosexual relationship! NOT!

As long as the youngest person is over eighteen, it doesn't matter if you love each other =D

it depends on the relationship. also, the older each person is, the less it matters.

I suppose if you share similar way of thinking, mental age then things are easier to work out between the two of you.

then again, to the outside world you two might not be suitable until they realise your mental connection is there (which is not really anyone else's business in AN IDEAL WORLD).

As long as both are of legal age, it depends on the people. I have dated men 10 rs younger and 25 yrs older. If both of you are comfortable with it, there should be no problem. This doesn't mean that you won't run into hassles from family and other people. That can create problems. I've also found that the older you are, the less difference it will make to you if the other person is quite a bit older b/c you have matured a lot yourself. The younger you are, the more YOU will be aware of differences in taste and attitudes. It's always a good idea to imagine things 10 and 20 yrs down the road, b/c by then the differences will be much more obvious in health and habits. If you are the younger person, remember that YOU are going to continue to grow and change a lot. The older a person is, altho they may change and adapt some, the less likely is it to be a radical change. I also think that women change and adapt more than men after a certain age, but that's jut my opinion.
