Oh, okay...thank you for your answer.

1,000,000,000 roman catholics view him as their spiritual leader.
a lot of protestants might not agree that this is a good thing.

Best Answer

Wow...I see. Protestants may wonder what's the need of a mediator between god and man ever since the cross. Thank you for your answer.

Best Answer

you might be right. i think the proddies embrace a personal experience with the divine, instead of going through a priest. on the other hand, with one big church, like the RCs have, there's a lot more uniformity in doctrine. they don't have crackpots like the Rev Fred Phelps rolling their own theology

He is the leader of the oldest & largest christian religion in the world. Additionally, as with many other priests, but perhaps more so...he has to live his life very differently than the rest of us. He is constantly being watched by hundreds of church officials and the masses. So it can be said that he has given the remainder of his life utterly to God, which affords more respect from Catholic followers.

Wait, Christ wasn't a Christian?

He is the GRAND POOBAH of Catholicism

The pope is the head of the Catholic Church. There's been a Pope since biblical times.
Beginning of the line of popes:
1.St. Peter (32-67) [the apostle in the bible]
2.St. Linus (67-76)
3.St. Anacletus (Cletus) (76-88)
4.St. Clement I (88-97)
5.St. Evaristus (97-105)
6.St. Alexander I (105-115)
etc. to today.
The Pope's headship separates the church Jesus founded from groups that have left it (like Protest-ants who got their name for protesting against Catholic teachings.).

Small problem. Historical evidence impugns such a claim: http://bit.ly/14lNVXo

He's the head of a well organized criminal like empire.

Best Answer

Not a damn thing. All organized religion is complete bull$hit. They're just in it for the tax breaks. Check out George Carlin's bit on YouTube called Religion is Bull$hit.
