Read the book: Into the Void by mountaineer/legendary John Krakauer... It will teach you about mountaineering at high altitude, and how resilient the human body really is.

Or read The Botany of Desire, it will educate you on the topic of how our environment around us has evolved with us to reproduce and not become extinct. From the potato plant, the tulip, apple and marijuana.

Or read Confessions of a Jewel Thief by Bill Mason. Hilarious and also true of his life spent stealing millions in jewels from the rich and famous, and how he did it, and the time he spent in state prison.

Depends.. whether you are doing it for fun, for passing time or for academic credits.
If the first, then i suggest work on yourself.. like a new wardrobe project keeping in mind the trends and what you like, or probably a spa project to give yourself a fun day.. researching how good a manicure feels, lol.
If its for passing time, then you could work on a hobby or a subject that has interested you for long but you couldn't do it owing to the time factor previously.
If academic, then pertaining to your course, you could pick a topic.. like i remember when i was in junior college, i did research project on past chronological evolution as a part of my biology class. So you get the idea.
