What is the best possible way to do away with the patriarchy and misogyny that exist in most human societies?

Even after we have evolved so much... Why are crimes against women rampant? Why do women have to suffer and die because some men in the society are hideous? How can we curb them? How can we get rid of objectification of women? A happy and safe New Year to all of you, by the way.

PS: For those who don't yet know about the brutal New Delhi gang rape incident, and about the anonymous brave young lady who couldn't live to see her violators punished, here is the story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Delhi_gang_rape_case

    That's complicated.
I think that women must stand and demand respect. I think that women must also respect themselves and be respectable. Part of that is to stop dishing ourselves up as mindless sexual objects to pleasure men. And to stop making excuses for and enabling men to treat them like garbage.
Men must learn respect and value for women...for their positions as mothers, for their capacity to love and warm a home, and for their incredible minds. Society as a whole would have to participate in altering the mindset that has been prevalent for hundreds of years.
Women must stand. Men must be men and stop feeling threatened by the strength of women.
How we get there begins in the family and with the culture. But people would have to change. As it is, there are many people who fight against change of that sort.

Indeed. Women have to start standing up for themselves. I think by doing away with the notions of gender roles and certain fields of work being "male bastions". You are right, it has to begin at home. Fathers need to respect mothers, their decisive abilities and the child will automatically imbibe the habit of respecting women and treating them as equals in the society. I think ego and narcissism are the biggest stumbling blocks in the path of realisation of the truly egalitarian, cosmopolitan society.

Don't stop fighting your not where you want to be but you still must acknowledge how far you've come , same things go for the issues America has with "race" and homosexuality

Persevere and don't stop thinking don't become complacent and docile, when where at rock bottom we constantly think of change when things get a lil better we ease up and let things slide don't let tht happen, remember to go about this as intelligently as possible people lack apathy

You are right. We make easy compromises and go slack on reforms.

get rid of all the humans.

    no humans, no human societies.

    no human societies, no problems.

I've been advocating this solution for some time now. it would fix quite a few other problems too. everything from corrupt politicians and government spending to animal extinction to pollution and global warming. even computer viruses and spam would vanish.
