Do you mean a personality disorder, or is the person a little more than difficult to handle (having trouble with jealousy, self obsessiveness etc.) If the first then is your loved one having psychotherapy? That is possibly the best way for them to regain their usual normality, and understanding their condition (and therefore making your life easier!). If latter, I believe you can try easing in some gentle advice on how they may deal with certain situations. It really depends on how upset they may get. You must be careful on that level as they can be highly sensitive, even though they appear to be selfish.

Best Answer

Ignore them and avoid them when possible.
