Communicate, communicate, communicate. There is no other way, ask for clarification, talk it out, work it out.

This happens to me all the time, this is my response:
Until you walk in MY shoes, you have no idea what I go through on a daily basis.

Fall to the floor, kick legs, scream and thrash about wildly. They'll get the message.

I agree with Neveah....it is very difficult

I am experiencing this with my family at the moment, they won't accept my medical diagnosis, and won't *hear* my explanation of symptoms, and my coping needs

Difficult sometimes but if there is a problem, I try to turn it around and think of things from the other persons perspective. Imagine that they are you and you are them. You may get a small idea of why they do not understand where you are coming from. I find this often works with my husband.

I try my best to explain myself and after several attempts I put the burden on them. I tell then I have done my absolute best to explain and now it is up to them to listen and understand. You can't expect me to do anything more than my best. It isn't my problem to continue to explain, It is their problem to get it. Some people will puposefully refuse to understand as a way to manipulate you.
