What is the biggest belief that has changed in your life?

I used to believe that God is an old man up in heaven waiting to hit me the minute I make a mistake, watches everyone suffer and does nothing to prevent it, sends sickness to teach people, makes sure they reap for all the things they did not do right or do wrong, loves me when I do right, hates me when I do wrong, waits for me to pray long hours - answers me depending on his mood. If I love him more, he will bless me more.

But I found out very recently that God is not an old man with a long white beard..he is a dynamic young God cos there is no ageing in heaven, he does not wait to hit me each time I make a mistake because he already hit Jesus, his beloved son for all my sins. He loved me so much that he could not bear to see me suffer, so He suffered instead. He does not send sickness and accidents to teach me lessons. He took all my sickness on the cross, so that I can be healed. Jesus reaped for all the things I did not do right and for all the things I did wrong. He reaped God's wrath and the fire of God's judgement so that there is nothing bad left for me to reap..only the good things! He loves me because I am his child - not because I do right or wrong - that's why he made me a human being - not a human doing. In essence, He loves me when I'm good and I do the things I should, He loves me when I'm bad, even though it makes Him sad. He answers all my prayers, all the time because Jesus paid for answered prayers as well!

It is not my love for him that matters, but understanding His love for me! And the more I understand how much he loves me, the more I can experience his blessings!

Religion. I grew up catholic in Mexico (that's probably why I'm not religious anymore), even when I was younger I remember asking my mom, priest or any adult questions I had about Jesus or the bible but all I heard was "Don't ask questions, just believe and have faith".....so that's pretty much he story of why I'm agnostic now, because I ask questions and DON'T believe everything I'm told.

That nothing lasts. Your job, your house, happines, grief, issues. That not to look upon others coz all the good things you have might vanish anytime. Dont be worried over issues coz oneday they will vanish or you will get used to it.

I think the belief that had the greatest effect on me was the belief that there is a continuation of life after physical death; I started researching it in my early twenties, and have been refining it ever since. But now I have been told I have cancer, I notice that I don't feel panicked, although my friends seem to expect me to. Reason: Death Has Lost Its Sting!
Death might not be pleasant, but I'm pretty sure I'll be around for a few trillion years yet!

That you need to take responsibility of what's going on in your life. That blaming anybody or anything is useless but believing you can do something about your life is the way to go.

Balance. Once you except that balance is important you can understand the multitude of events and personalities. I joke that my one strongest held belief is balance...
