I wish EP didn't use any designations other than friend. To me a friend shares all those other attributes when being a friend. There are many "incentive" factors built into this site, I guess the semantics of connection is just another one of them.

as far as i can tell, if you add someone as a favorite, you become their fan. if you add them as a guru, it means you look up to them and you become their guree. if you both add each other to your profiles as either fans, faves, gurus, or gurees, you become friends.

You fan someone, they become a favorite to you. They fan you back, they become a fan. Nowyou two are considered friends.
You add someone as guru, it's ,more than a favorite, it's like looking up to them. They guru you back, they're considered gurees and also, you two are considered friends. Makes sense?

You add someone into your circle because you like them, for whatever reason. You then get to choose whether they are a favorite to you, or a guru. Favorites to me are people that I just like, and a guru is someone that I think has a lot of insight or that I learn from. When someone adds you to their circle and they are not added by you, they are a fan of yours. If they chose you as a guru, then they are a guree of yours. If you and the other person both have added each other, then you are friends.
