Netshell answer: When you're infatuated, you don't see the person realistically, i.e., it's a rosy lenses view. Real love recognizes the other person's "warts."

Infatuation is to love what bubblegum is to filet-mignon.

Infatuation is usually the "high" when you meet someone you're really attracted to. It fades with time, trust me. Love, however; is supposed to last forever. Then there is unconditional love, which only exists from God and Mothers. You know, God couldn't be everywhere, that's why he made Mothers.

infatuation is one-sided love and love is 2-sided love.

Infatuation wears off after a while. Love is something you feel deep in your soul. You can't imagine your life without the person in it.

love is longer lasting than infatuation. Infatuation is often the surface or just selective (likes some things, but not others). Love is more about everything, both the good and the bad, the hard and the lovely. Love sees both the good and bad, but loves them despite it. Infatuation sees only what it likes, and ignores the rest of the person as long as they can. Infatuation needs things back; love is a gift given regardless. Love doesn't have to be entirely selfless, but it is willing to do things for the good of the person you love, even if you get nothing in return for doing it. Infatuation can be strong, and persistent, but it doesn't run as deep or have the same maturity as love. Love grows deeper with time; infatuation fades or runs out. Love is like a rock. Infatuation is like the wind of a storm.
