I don't know yet. Neither do I.
schizophrenia is an actual "mental disorder" where one has trouble telling the difference between whats real and whats not real....... where psychosis is not a mental disorder, but rather delusions where people loose contact with reality. (close in Dx, but far a part)
Psychosis is not a mental health disorder per se. People experience psychosis in the course of psychotic-ba<x>sed disorders such as schizophrenia. People may confuse psychosis with the diagnosis psychotic disorder not otherwise specified (NOS). Psychotic disorder NOS is a generalized disorder given to individuals who have experienced a psychotic episode but don’t meet any other criteria for other psychotic-ba<x>sed disorders such as schizophrenia. One cannot receive a diagnosis of psychosis but they could be diagnosed as having schizophrenia. <br />
If someone experiences psychosis they have a break with reality. A psychotic episode (a phrase used interchangeably with psychosis) includes symptoms such as hearing voices, believing in things that are not real despite evidence to the contrary (delusions) and paranoia. To be diagnosed with schizophrenia, an individual must have experienced more than one psychotic episode, along with other symptoms, within a six-month period.
Yeah, what Satan said.
Schizophrenia is a psychosis...
psychosis can be a temporary state. schizophrenia is incurable and can only be managed.
How I was told with my psychosis is like this: I have hallucinations which include auditory and visual hallucinations. I know that these voices are in my head and I know they're not exactly "real". A person with schizophrenia might believe the voices are from their tv, or teddy bears, or radio and they think they're 100% real and usually they tell them what to do like. A radio telling them to kill someone or to go wash their hands. Where mine I know are not real, they have no real control over me, BUT I have no control over them either.
