I take it you mean a male partner? It depends on the emotions you felt in the dream. Were you jealous? Did you feel that he deserved to move on? Or did you notice anything about the woman? If she seemed to have a strong personality, she may represent part of you that you feel he loved, or others may love. If you noticed a color or her hair, clothing, etc, it could have meaning for you.
