I was 20, he was 22, we thought we were so mature, today it is our 20th anniversary. We have never been to a romantic destination, nor a foreign retreat, but my husband has filled my days with romance and love.
Silently the door opens, he steals across the room, the fragrance of blossoms trailing after him.
Arms enfold me as I weep.
Arms enfold me as a laugh.
Gentle fingers wash my hair from a hospital bed I am in for 3 months.
He loves me.
Takes care of me and our three children.
Always he has remembered our anniversary, romance is not an event, he makes it a part of our life.

I'm still waiting for it, but to date...

My boyfriend and I went to a movie on a Tuesday night a long time ago when we were in the beginning months of our relationship. During the movie I started getting really sharp pains in my abdomen and it got worse throughout the movie. I kept leaving to go to the bathroom because I constantly had to pee, and that was extremely painful..

After the movie it was 8:30ish and he wanted to go and grab a drink and then go home. I asked him to take me home because I wasn't feeling too good... He started worrying and asking me what was wrong... I said I think I just have "monthly cramping". He said okay and drove me home and went home himself (he lives an hour away from me).

Anyways, I got in the house and the pain got worse... I decided to not take any risks and get to the emergency room. When he got home at around 9:30ish he texted me Good Night and told me to feel better. I texted him back - told him where I was, what I thought was wrong and that he should have a good night too.

I was waiting in the "waiting room" for just over an hour when I see him come through the door, looking frantically around.. I called out his name and he just ran over and hugged me and kissed me and told me that he couldn't stay away that he was worried about me... He stayed with me and held my hand the whole time and we didn't get out of the hospital until 12:30/1:00 am.

On top of that he stayed with me all night - we both called in sick for the next day and he cuddled with me, made me breakfast to enjoy in bed and just hung out with me the entire day. I think it was the most romantic, thoughtful, compassionate and adorable experience I have had to date.. It was the day I really knew he is the one for me.

SeriouslySappy: you can borrow mine. :) I don't want it anymore!

A few years ago, I had just started dating a guy when 4th July rolled around. (I live in New Zealand, and July is the middle of winter for us!) We were talking via text messages that morning, and I mentioned that I was down because it was the 4th of July (and raining) and I missed seeing the fireworks. He invited me over to his house to "come see some fireworks". I just thought that he was flirting, but I went over to see him after work anyway.

When I got there, he crawled under the house and came back (dirty and stinky), carrying a box of sky rockets. Now, sky rockets are illegal in this country - they were banned a few years ago - but he had saved up a little stash for a special occasion. After dark, he dragged me out onto the beach in the freezing rain, and we let off sky rockets on the sand... Just because I missed my fireworks.

It was an incredibly romantic thing - reckless and spontaneous and absolutely perfect. :)

... Shame the rest of the relationship wasn't so nice, really. :D

I was dating my husband and one night his mom's car broke down and I went to help him pick it up. While we were waiting for the mechanic, it was late and it was a clear night with a lot of stars and he walked where I was sitting in the driver side of his van and he looked into my eyes and told me I had the most beautiful eyes he'd ever seen and then lightly kissed me.....

Glen was'nt the most romantic man in the world he was'nt big on hearts and flowers, but for me the most romantic things where he told me he loved me at least 3 times a day.

There is one that sticks in my mind. I was working night duties and was on my 6th straight night, it was saturday and Em usually went with daddy she was 4 and Kel stayed with me she was 18mths and had her morning sleep when I did.

THis morning she refused to go down for her sleep, I was exsausted and rang Glen to have a whinge, he was at our new house fixing a fence, He came home and picked us all up and took us to the new house, he filled the back of our station wagon with pillows and blankets, made me a bed in the back of the car in the sun (it was winter) and kept the girls with him for most of the day while I slept.

When it got too cold and sun started to set he took us home, sent me to bed bathed the kids cooked dinner for us all washed up and cleaned up the kitchen. It ment more to me than a bunch of flowers and showed just how much he loved me and the kids.

He was a good man and I will love and miss him for the rest of my life.

I'm still waiting. I don't think it'll ever happen to me, though.

Christmas...my husband bought tickets to the live theatre, and came home, with a complete outfit....italian strapped sandals, sequenced black dress, a shaw, even the white gold necklace/earrings set......told me to go get dressed, so I did....and after I came down, there was a limo, pulling up....as I got in, to sit down, I had to move the dozen, long-stemmed red roses, and the love note, from my seat....

I'd have to say that is the most romantic even ever happening to me......SO FAR!
