I'm American. I've always pictured English people to be unemotional and stiff upper lip types. I've learned different here at the Experience Project. They have actual feelings! Imagine that!

Very reserved, white, upper class, intelligent, and very well dressed. The down side is that the British are viewed as cold, unemotional, and very poor lovers

Why would you try to get us to stereo type someone?! The only thing this question will cause is hurt feelings and more hatred.

I cannot believe what I'm reading here. Firstly I totally agree with Coolpenguin in saying that this will do no good at all. Saying that though I feel I have to defend US Brits. " Bad teeth and terrible lovers?" at least our teeth are our own hon, not bought from a plastic surgeon along with your faces, ****, *****, tans, nails and hair.
"Cold and Unemotional?" only because we are so exhausted trying to explain irony and humour to you bozo's that were thoroughly pissed off and bored with your company.
Freefallwall? dont want to come here again? Thank christ for that, go back to your ivory tower and get someone to tell you how wonderful you are.
I really cannot believe in this day and age that some , so-called, educated, civilised people can talk such crap.

You want stereotypical? Try looking REAL hard in the mirror, hope your DAMNED proud of what you see.

The English; flag waving, pompous, cricket players who pick their noses and scratch their bums and holler, "How's that" then in temper, should they lose, burn their bats! Then they wander to the club house and cry over their beers.

The Scots; kilt swinging, sporran wearing, caber tossing, bagpipe blowing, porridge waffling, whisky drinking, 'Wee Free' religious socialists and supporters of Tommy Sheridan!

The Welsh; well they are still trying to teach themselves rugger and keep seeing red. Their phallic symbol is the leak which becomes flaccid half-way up!

The Ulster Planters still can't believe that their national flag is the tricolour so they have been perpetually waring since c1600!

Now, would you like to hear their bad points?

PS Great comment 'mandytaylor'; nothing like standing up and being counted!

I honestly don't have one. I know too many Brits to stereotype them.

The ones i know are awfully proud, pompous, discriminative and totally insensitive in humour. The younger ones are horribly violent. Tv shows typical, celebrities dreadful, weather cloudy... God I would never want to go there ever.

They would all make good butlers and nannies. They would also give you honest opinion about tea. You did say stereotypical.

Freefallwall, If I didn't know you were talking about Britain, I would have thought you were talking about the US! And could you please tell me what's wrong with being proud? As for cloudy, I sit here with the sun streaming through my window, I live in Scotland by the way, you didn't actually say which part of the UK you were stereotypifying! And as for that hoary old American myth, bad teeth, gnash gnash lol! Bad lovers eh? My wife told me that if I hadn't been good in bed she wouldn't have married me...and boy did she have a long list with which to compare me!!

The point of all this of course, is that if you only know a country from how it's portrayed in films and on tv, then be assured you have a false impression!

And please stop confusing Britain with England! The English are as much to blame for this as anyone else!
